Temperature measurement of optical fiber

The propagation of photon in the optical fiber is influenced by the density, stress, doping, temperature and bending deformation of the fiber, and a scattered light will be propagated along the incident light, which is called backscatter light.

The probe light enters the fiber and produces spontaneous Raman scattering during the transmission, and the back Stokes light is sensitive to the temperature, which is strengthened with the increase of temperature. By using the optical time domain reflectometry (TDR) to locate the space, and by analyzing and comparing the backward Raman scattering signal, the temperature information of any point along the optical fiber can be obtained. In order to achieve real-time distributed monitoring of target object temperature information.

The principle of optical fiber temperature measurement is very different at home and abroad. Raman scattering is used.

The limitation is: optical fiber is relatively fragile, and it is easy to break during construction. After breaking, the melting point will affect the performance of temperature measurement. The dissolving point of an optical fiber can not be more than seven or eight. In addition, the smallest detection unit is relatively large, generally 3 meters, that is, the detection object in 3 meters in the length of the temperature rise, system monitoring will have a clear temperature rise to remind. However, domestic technology compared to cattle, such as us, has been able to make the smallest detection unit of fiber 80 centimeters, the grating in many aspects of the technical performance is not as good as the fiber temperature measurement.
